• This is one that I really didn't want to see go. It was a fun build and really embodies the customisation we go for at Molyneaux Guitars.
A rubber bridge, Mojo Pickups Gold Foils and a slightly aged Cadillac Green finish.

The gold pickguard is a little marmite, but it really ties the whole guitar together for the vibe that the customer was after.

  • A build full of firsts for Molyneaux Guitars. For this Magpie build, we were tasked with building a really unique sounding guitar. It was installed with a McNelly Autumn in the neck position and a Curtis Novak Thunderbird pickup in the bridge. This pickup is usually seen in the classic Gibson Thunderbird Bass, but has been voiced to suit a 6 string guitar.

As well as two incredible sounding pickups, this guitar is equipped with a rubber bridge for that distinctive muted sound. And for the extra unique points, it is also a fretless. In the hands of the right player, this guitar will sound like nothing else and we can't wait to hear what it inspires.

  • This was a great custom order and the customer was heavily inspired by the first Myna. The main difference aesthetically being that we went for a dark natural back and sides to contrast the blue top.

The pickup in the neck was a McNelly T-Bar. This is a fatter sounding pickup compared to a regular T-Style pickup. More akin to a P90.

  • Molyneaux Guitars first fully custom build. This Myna was born from a few weeks of back and forth with the customer who had some very specific needs.
Wanting the guitar to cover a lot of bases, we decided to install this guitar with two McNelly Duckling pickups and a Lollar Imperial in the bridge position. Along with a simple Volume and Tone control layout and a 5 way switch, this guitar really covers a lot of bases.

The other request was that the guitar was light so it was comfortable to play for long sets. We decided to go with Paulownia for the body wood and it is unbelievably light. The stained wood finish really gives it that rustic look that the customer was looking for and has worn in nicely to the customers delight.

  • There's no hiding what inspired the Myna. Even the name is a tip of the hat with the Myna bird being a bird that can mimic other sounds.

With this build we wanted to keep a familiar set up tone wise, but with a new modern colour. One that always catches the eyes of people that see it.

  • The first custom ordered Magpie build and a true rock machine. Fitted with Bareknuckle Old Guard low output humbucker pickups, you instantly get that perfect rock sound you've heard for years.

This build had the Duesenberg Diamond Deluxe vibrato installed and is a great alternative if you aren't too keen on the classic JM style kit.

  • The first left handed Molyneaux guitar. This Myna was built after doing a couple of guitar shows and realising that there wasn't much on offer for the left handed players.

Left handed is now a standard option on our guitar builder and at no extra cost.

  • This build was almost the prototype for the fretless we ended up building for Ariel Posen. On the more standard side of things, this guitar is equipped with McNelly 46/58 pickups for that classic JM style tone. On the not so standard side, we tested out a rubber bridge and tuned it to a baritone tuning (B Standard).

This is a guitar you can easily find yourself losing hours while you sit and play it and has a unique that can inspire countless new songs.

  • Where it all began. The first Magpie. Somewhat a prototype, but still one that I'm super proud of.

It was built to be a "do it all" single coil guitar. Loaded with two McNelly Stagger Swaggers and a Duckling in the middle position. It really does cover a lot of bases tone wise thanks to the six way Freeway switch. From classic P90 rock tones, nice clean Jazzmaster type sounds and the two and four position Strat style sounds.
